Clean Energy Venture Summit
November 26th, 2008 | Published in Events, Featured
Jonas Lamis from SciVestor will be attending the Clean Energy Venture Summit, December 2-4, in Austin Texas. The event has adopted a regional focus, looking at critical questions facing Texas as we move to a carbon constrained society. Texas is the leading emitter of CO2 in America, and stands much to lose if a carbon cap is instituted without substantial planning on the part of the industry of the Lone Star state.
Alternatively, if Texas can get it’s act together, the State can develop a public / private / academic partnership for leading the development and implementation of green technologies for the USA.
This conference is being coordinated by the Clean Energy Incubator at the Austin Technology Incubator (ATI). ATI is a long standing business incubator run by The University of Texas. Also coordinating the event is Austin Energy - the public utility for the City of Austin.
Some of the big questions that the event promises to answer include:
Who will own the technology that powers a low-carbon economy?
How will our oil and gas companies respond?
What carbon-linked start-ups will emerge from the new legislation?
Where will America’s new energy job centers be located?
How will this impact our agricultural industry and our transportation?
What will it take for Texas to lead?
What will it cost – in money and jobs – if we don’t?
What are the investment opportunities here, and what can our policymakers do to spur investment in the Lone Star State?
I’m looking forward to attending, blogging, twining and twittering the event. Please follow me at twitter.com/jonaslamis to get the latest news and feeds from the Summit. I hope to see you there.
